How you'll contribute
A Physical Therapist who excels in this role:
Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of those patients being treated by Physical Therapist Assistants and Therapy techs. May be assigned to orient staff and students and assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual.
Assesses patients' needs; identifies and initiates appropriate physical therapy interventions; works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional physical therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Observes and evaluates treatment affect, accomplishment of short- and long-term goals. Recommends change to physician, if needed.
Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient and performs reassessments, as per policy. Performs accurate and timely QI scoring. The population is adult and geriatric patients requiring an adult medical rehabilitation program and services.
Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Fulltime Night Shift
At UH Rehabilitation Hospital in Beachwood, Ohio, our goal is to restore lives, helping patients regain their independence so they can return home. Our 50-bed, state-of-the-art acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital is dedicated to the treatment and recovery of individuals who have experienced a variety of conditions including:
- Amputation
- Brain injury
- Neurological conditions
- Orthopaedic injury
- Spinal cord injury
- Stroke
- Trauma
UH Rehabilitation Hospital provides acute inpatient medical and functional rehabilitation. We offer patients three hours of therapy per day, five days a week.
What you will do in this role:
Administer nursing care to ill or injured persons by assisting in caring for patients by giving direct care. The RN will coordinate and deliver quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders. The RN will assume direct responsibility for observation, delegation, and leadership of the unit staff and patients. The RN will serve actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the organization, program, and unit philosophy of care. The RN will ensure the safety and well-being of each patient. The RN ensures all medical orders are followed, initiates and follows treatment planning, and acts as a patient advocate at all times.
Qualifications:
- Will assess the patient and plan care within set time-frames and document findings according to policies.
- Will oversee and supervise the shift. Demonstrates leadership through duties that may include: delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, meal supervision, etc. Will also oversee staff to ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed and exemplary patient care is consistently delivered by self and all members of the team.
- Will monitor patient for change of condition and respond accordingly up to and including notification of the physician.
- RN will follow hospital policy for medication administration.
- RN will consistently use empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients.
- Delivery of quality nursing care to ensure that goals of the treatment plan are properly executed following hospital policies and procedures and demonstrated nursing competencies.
- Assists/performs comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.
