As a registered nurse, you will be responsible for delivery of patient care in the ICU Department through the nursing process of interview, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and triage .

Provides direct patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.

Essential Functions

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The RN Nurse will provide direct patient care within the Cardiac Cath Lab and assist with patient prep and recovery. Demonstrate proficiency in performing cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous coronary intervention, and permanent pacemaker implants. Familiar with cardiac stress testing, loop recorder implant, and venous ablation procedures. Follows standards set by CVMC, the AACN, CCI and SICP. Other duties as assigned.

Unit Summary:

A jack of all trades, our Float RNs work within all acute care units of the hospital. Float RN's ensure units are running smoothly. Our Float RN team provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Position Summary:

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing, required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred
  • Current RN to practice in the state of KY
  • 2 years of critical care experience
  • Certifications: BCLS; ACLS & PALS per unit specific requirements

The expansion signifies a 75% increase in capacity for the ICU, adding six beds to the eight that are currently available.
