This is the largest consolidated neurology and child development division in New Jersey and is led by Dr. Bernard Maria who was honored by the Child Neurology Society’s 2018 Hower Award, the highest honor in the field.

Responsibilities

The board-eligible/certified child neurologist will join our team of five neurologists and well as three pediatric epileptologists in our top-ranked epilepsy program (NAEC Level 4 designation). With exceptionally strong programs in genetics, neurodevelopmental/autism, neuro‑oncology, headache, and neuromuscular, the pediatric neurosurgery division has several credentialed surgeons including its director Dr. Rich Anderson.

Educational Responsibilities

  • Active participation in education of residents and medical students rotating through the Pediatric Neurology service as well as through interactions on the inpatient service.
  • Present didactic lectures in pediatric neurology to GME/UME students as well as giving pediatric grand rounds periodically.

  • Provide inpatient consultations and primary responsibility for admitting patients with pediatric neurological disorders.

Continuing Education

Research

  • Identify and encourage opportunities to collaborate with and mentor pediatric residents on research projects, case reports, and other academic pursuits.
  • Consider initiating or participating in relevant research opportunities.

Outreach And Marketing

  • Market the practice through direct physician to physician communication, community education, community service or other appropriate channels.
  • Present Grand Rounds at neighboring institutions as deemed appropriate by the Pediatric Neurology Division Chief.

Administrative Duties

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are searching for our next SUPER STAR ! As our next Provider you will be under the direction of the VP/Chief Medical Officer and in accordance with the medical profession, provides quality primary health care for treatment of a variety of medical conditions to community-based patient population that is diverse in age, educational background and income level.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides general physical examinations and makes medical evaluations to diagnose and treat a variety of medical illnesses and diseases of the human body.

  • Directs patient care in accordance with CentroMed’s approved scope of services.
  • Analyzes test findings and processes all "normal" and "abnormal" lab results to diagnose the patient's health condition. Administers appropriate treatment plans and prescribes medications to treat the patient's medical condition as indicated by medical protocols.
  • Promotes health among patients by advising patients on diet, hygiene and disease prevention.
  • Documents and charts all treatment modalities administered and preventive medicine prescribed in patient's medical chart in accordance with accepted medical protocols.
  • Makes referrals to specialists when necessary for treatment of medical conditions following guidelines established by the SVP/Chief Medical Officer and managed care contracts.
  • Works as a member of the medical staff in implementing the objectives and the Clinical Outcome measures by Life Cycle Groups.
  • Works as a member of the medical staff in identifying the medical issues of the community and to develop best treatment plans.
  • Provides medical assistance to other Physicians and mid-level providers as necessary or provides coverage for patients in the absence of their regular treating physician.
  • Keeps SVP/Chief Medical Officer informed of trends and increases in numbers of medical conditions and illnesses being reported by patients.
  • Keeps up with CME requirements for Texas License and Board Certification.
  • Abides by infection control policies and procedures as dictated in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual.

  • Participates in after hour care, to include patient calls and hospital coverage. Appropriately documents such care.

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

The Psychiatrist will work to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare by providing evaluations and medication management services to patients. This role will work with psychotherapists, primary care physicians, and adjunct support services staff. Additionally, this role will support the clinical supervision and professional growth of other psychiatric providers, such as Advance Practice Providers and/or trainees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessment, evidence-based medication management and treatment, psycho-education, and follow-up to patients
  • Provides health and behavioral health services
  • Provides Medication Assisted Treatment to patients, as needed
  • Provides personal information to and participates in the credentialing process with managed care companies
  • Participates in process and program quality improvement initiatives
  • Participates in case conferences, departmental or agency meetings, as directed
  • Impacts patient experience by demonstrating values of Transforming Care including, but not limited to, courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
  • Completes documentation timely, accurately, and locks notes within 48 hours
  • Provides weekly clinical supervision to PMHNP, PA-C, or other advanced provider equivalent positions
  • Shares accountability for overall patient health outcomes, working in coordination with Care Teams
  • Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholders

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • MD or DO degree
  • Completion of four-year psychiatry residency
  • Completion of or eligible for ABPN Board certification
  • Valid CA medical license required
  • Current CA DEA licensure is required and is to be maintained as a condition of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved source is required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
    • AHA-approved courses include an in-person, hands‑on skills check with a certified instructor using a mannequin to demonstrate CPR and emergency response techniques.
    • Online‑only BLS courses without a live skills check do not meet this requirement.
  • Valid DEA Medication Assisted Treatment waiver to prescribe buprenorphine
