  • Work in conjunction with the attending cardiothoracic surgeon, and non-surgical providers, for medical care of cardiothoracic surgical patients.

  • Duties include: managing post cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, ECMO, LVAD, bedside procedures, and assisting in inpatient practice needs.

  • Perform initial evaluation, history, and physical examination of all assigned patients.

  • Placement of invasive monitoring lines including central venous catheters, dialysis lines, and arterial access.

  • Participate in ongoing education, quality, and research projects.

  • Contribute to service-related databases as indicated.

  • Participate in education of patients and families during their inpatient course.
