Role And Responsibilities

  • Provide timely guidance on, draft, review and/or approve promotions, rebates, sweepstakes, and contests.
  • Advise on, draft and negotiate various advertising and marketing agreements, including agency agreements (e.g., MSAs and SOWs), and other marketing, promotional, event and creative/consulting agreements.
  • Provide rapid turnaround guidance, review and approvals on various marketing materials, as well as press releases.
  • Provide daily real-time guidance on legal issues pertaining to the, social media, FTC regulations and the Samsung website/eCommerce.
  • Advise and support legal counterparts and other business units as necessary at Samsung headquarters located in Korea.
  • Meet regularly with relevant marketers to assess risk and provide solutions to proposed promotional activities.
  • Meet regularly/daily with all marketing teams to review, edit, and approve consumer-facing materials.
  • Monitor and review issues that may arise in digital and social media spaces.
  • Stay abreast of FTC and relevant legal cases and regulatory developments and report same to Legal and clients, including providing training as necessary.
  • Advise and apprise SEA legal team of US compliance with all relevant and current US legal issues in global launches of product and marketing campaigns.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • 7+ years’ legal experience gained in nationally recognized or relevant boutique law firm and/or in-house settings.
  • Experience in advertising/marketing law with expertise in promotions, rebates, sweepstakes and contests.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating related agreements including agency agreements (e.g., MSAs and SOWs), and other marketing, promotional, event and creative/consulting agreements.
  • Admitted to the Bar of at least one state and eligible for admission to Texas as in- house counsel.
  • Experience counseling clients in consumer-facing electronics, and technology industries is preferred.
  • Familiarity with digital and social media issues relevant to consumer products companies
  • FTC/NAD experience is a plus.

  • Advise on franchisor compliance and requirements, handle franchise disputes, and manage the preparation, review, and state-by-state submission of Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs).
  • Counsel the business on state insurance laws and licensing requirements applicable to Goosehead's franchise and corporate operations.
  • Advise on consumer protection laws, including UDAP/UDAAP, the TCPA, deceptive trade practices statutes, and advertising and sales practices regulations.
  • Provide employment law guidance, including on hiring, discipline, terminations, and workplace investigations, in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and agreements supporting the business.
  • Monitor developments in franchise law, insurance regulation, and consumer protection law, and translate them into practical guidance for the business.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to executive leadership on new initiatives, products, and business strategies.

Experience and Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing (Texas bar, or ability to obtain Texas bar admission/in-house counsel registration, required).
  • 4-6 years of relevant legal experience, with substantial experience at a large or nationally/regionally recognized law firm.
  • In-house experience in litigation management, regulatory matters, commercial transactions, employment law, consumer protection, or corporate governance is a plus.
  • Experience with, or strong aptitude to quickly develop expertise in, franchise law, including franchise litigation and regulatory compliance (FDDs, state franchise registration and relationship laws).
  • Insurance industry experience, including familiarity with state insurance laws and licensing requirements, is a plus.

  • Strong working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to quickly master, franchise law, including litigation and regulatory compliance obligations under state franchise relationship and disclosure laws.
  • Solid understanding of state insurance laws and licensing requirements, or demonstrated ability to become proficient in this area.

  • Working knowledge of employment law fundamentals, including hiring, discipline, termination, and workplace investigation practices.
  • Demonstrated litigation management skills, including the ability to direct outside counsel efficiently and manage litigation budgets and outcomes.
  • Sound judgment and business acumen, with the ability to translate legal risk into clear, practical guidance for non-legal business partners.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with minimal supervision.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
