ABOUT THE JOB

This role is responsible for leading the software engineering teams that power Connected Warfare’s next‑generation warfighter experience platforms. As Senior Director of Software Engineering, you will drive technical strategy and execution across a diverse portfolio including augmented reality and immersive training environments.

Your teams will deliver mission‑critical software to all US Services and international customers, working at the intersection of embedded systems, mobile platforms, distributed systems, and 3D experiences. This role demands both deep technical leadership and the ability to orchestrate complex programs across hardware, software, and customer delivery organizations.

This role is required to be onsite in Bellevue, WA.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • You will lead the software engineering organization responsible for delivering Connected Warfare’s most advanced warfighter experience technologies. Your mandate is to ensure technical excellence, on‑time delivery, and mission success across a complex portfolio of programs. This role demands a seasoned technical leader who can:
  • Own the technical vision and software roadmap, ensuring alignment with Connected Warfare’s strategic objectives, our customer missions, and contract requirements.
  • Lead and scale a high‑performing organization of software engineers across multiple disciplines: embedded systems, Android/Linux platforms, AR/VR, distributed systems, UX, DevOps, and platform engineering.
  • Partner with C‑suite executives and division leadership to understand strategic vision and business imperatives, own the translation into detailed implementation plans, and maintain clear, proactive communication on progress, risks, and key decisions across all stakeholders.
  • Drive execution across high‑stakes programs with strict timelines, ensuring delivery commitments are met with quality.
  • Partner closely with Program Management, Product, Delivery, Hardware Engineering teams to ensure integrated solutions that meet warfighter needs.
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices for software development, testing, security, deployment automation, and operational excellence.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience with 10+ years in technical leadership roles managing large, multi‑disciplinary engineering organizations (100+ engineers).
  • Proven track record of delivering complex software systems in defense, aerospace, robotics, autonomous vehicles or similarly demanding domains with hard real‑time, safety, or mission‑critical requirements.
  • Deep technical expertise across multiple of the following domains relevant to the role: embedded systems, mobile platforms (Android/Linux), distributed systems, AR/VR/XR technologies, networking, or real‑time graphics.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution across complex, interdependent programs with multiple stakeholders while maintaining technical quality and meeting delivery commitments.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to make sound architecture decisions that balance short‑term delivery needs with long‑term scalability and maintainability.
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior military and government leaders.
  • Experience building and scaling engineering teams, with a track record of attracting, developing, and retaining top engineering talent.
  • Ability to work onsite in Bellevue, WA.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
