About the Role

Compensation and Benefits

$250,000 to $275,000, representing the academic base salary only, which is funded through the University. About the role
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, planning, coordination, implementation, execution and management of one-to-many medium projects, several large projects, and/or complex projects according to pre-determined scope, schedule and budgets. Senior Project Managers will also provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced Project Managers / Project Coordinators. It is expected that the majority of time (70%) may be in customer facing activities.

What you'll be doing
  • Partners with customers and internal business leaders, including sales, delivery practices, PMO standards assurance, and others to deliver services that support company objectives and that are consistent with Winning Together values.
  • Partners with, and in some cases leads, the internal teams to contribute to the PMO knowledge base of tools, processes and standards
  • Facilitates the investigation, analysis, and remediation of issues and risks in strategic accounts
  • Lead the planning and implementation of project(s) throughout the project lifecycle, initiation through closure.
  • Oversee the review of project scope, goals and deliverables both internally and externally.
  • Oversee and develop a project task list (tracker), risk/issue/action, project contacts and a full-scale project plan as required within Computacenter United States Inc's approved applications and systems.

  • Manage project budget, resource allocation, project plan, project trackers and project timelines as required.
  • Track and advise on project deliverables and tasks using appropriate applications, systems, and/or tools.
  • Own and resolve any issues that arise during the project and drive risk mitigation.
  • Drive team accountability for project results of staying on-budget, on-schedule, and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to project scope, tasks, deliverables, goals, resources, schedules and budgets.
  • Communicate expectations to stakeholders and team, gaining acceptance and accomplishing customers business objectives.
  • Identify resources required to fulfill project delivery, collaborating with other Project Managers, the resource management group and other groups as required to determine which project resources are available in order to schedule project workload and make assignments.
  • The Senior PM should work with the resource management group to explore ways to drive efficiencies on third party project delivery.
  • Oversee all products and corresponding issues (software licensing, shipment logistics, DOA's, late or changed shipment dates) are coordinated with customer and Computacenter United States Inc Sales and Engineering teams.
  • Provide status reporting throughout the project to internal and external stakeholders on progress against project schedule, and any issues and their accompanying mitigations.
  • Quickly escalated to next level of management and/or senior management any project related issues/risks that will impact the project negatively.
  • Ensure all project team timecards, expense reports, status reports, issue documentation, project tracker(s), project plan(s) and project documentation are entered and/or updated into the Computacenter United States Inc applications &systems in a timely fashion, verifying accuracy and completeness.
  • Obtain client sign-off on the Project Completion Form.
  • Perform invoicing and project closure functions including sending and following up on Customer Satisfaction Survey’s.
  • Senior PM’s will be called upon to mentor those around them in aspects of leadership, methodology, tools, people skills, and navigating difficult customer environments.
  • Senior PM’s will be called upon to conduct mid project checks as well, as after-action meetings for continual improvement.
  • Senior PM’s will be expected to have the ability to turn around any sized project that may not be performing up to Computacenter United States Inc’s high-quality expectations.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the full mechanical design lifecycle for rugged, mission-critical hardware, from initial assessment of existing architecture (mounting, housings, thermal management, integration points), documenting tribal knowledge, and evaluating CAD models, to identifying design gaps and technical debt.
  • Drive design evolution and innovation, translating operational feedback and evolving requirements into detailed mechanical designs.
  • Own the complete CAD-to-prototype pipeline, including design, coordinating fabrication, and validating performance through rigorous benchtop testing.
  • Ensure robust mechanical integration across complex subsystems (e.g., LiDAR, weapon mounts, power systems, electronics) and design for extreme operational environments (shock, vibration, environmental sealing) and field maintainability.
  • Serve as the mechanical authority for product quality, investigating and resolving complex issues, implementing permanent corrective actions, and driving Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) improvements.
  • Manage all engineering documentation, including production drawings, technical specifications, and the engineering Bill of Materials (BOM), while overseeing configuration and change management processes.
  • Support qualification campaigns to validate operational capabilities and collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams (electrical/firmware, manufacturing, test/evaluation) to achieve program goals.
  • Engage directly with warfighters in the field, traveling to exercises to collect feedback and provide critical product support.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience with a demonstrated track record of design ownership in a team setting.
  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical design, tolerance analysis, and materials selection, paired with high competence and fluid use of engineering first principles.
  • Hands-on prototyping experience; comfortable moving between CAD, machine shop, and test bench.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and the ability to produce high-quality engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Meaningful experience with managing a BOM and drawings within a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool.
  • Experience with complex root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of permanent corrective action (PCA) related to quality improvement.
  • A self-starter mentality, capable of identifying problems, proposing innovative solutions, and executing with minimal oversight.
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in defense or ruggedized systems, with experience designing for extreme shock, vibration, and environmental sealing.
