- M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution
- Experience with hematological/oncologic patients and/or EEG and/or EMG/NCS (preferred, not required)

The Center of Excellence is/are part of the Gotham Health Clinics. The goal of this community-based practice is to provide outpatient services to patients as well as short and long-term follow-up care.

East New York Diagnostic and Treatment Center proudly hosts two behavioral health specialty teams, our licensed Article 31 Behavioral Health Practice and an Assertive Community Treatment Team. Located in a newly refurbished clinical space, our BH practice treats underserved New Yorkers with complex psychiatric and medical presentations. Our team provides interdisciplinary intensive care to improve individual’s quality of life, increase community tenure, and reduce the need for inpatient care.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The attending psychiatrist is the clinical lead of the outpatient team and is responsible for all aspects of patient care on the team, including safety and quality. The attending psychiatrist will provide direct patient care, and clinical oversite and supervision to the behavioral health outpatient practice.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Patient Care
- Provide direct care to patients assigned, including appropriate and timely care and documentation.
- Complete admission assessment, with a focus on comprehensive risk assessment for all new intakes, and re-assessment of patients in a timely fashion consistent with policy.
- Conduct appropriate outreach and relevant documentation as per policy.
- Complete treatment plan documentation consistent with policy and appropriate to patient's risk level.
- Participate in and conduct inter-disciplinary team meetings as per the standard of work and policy. Participates and conduct tier reviews as per policy
- Ensure appropriate use of de-escalation, and participate and provide leadership in outpatient behavioral codes.
- Participate in medical codes in the clinic until the Code Team arrives.
- Work with all teams to help patients move through appropriate level of care
- Appropriate risk stratification and re-assessment of risk level.
- Consideration of referrals to community resources like AOT, ACT etc.
- Participate in discharge planning and include referrals to alternative levels of care.
- Collaborate and coordinate with primary care and other medical specialists.
Supervisory
- Provide supervisory oversight to clinical team members, including but not limited to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and others.
Performance Improvement, Quality Assurance and Risk Management
- Participate in Performance, Quality Assurance, and management projects.
- May participate in and/or facilitate collaborative case conference, team meeting, and high-risk patient committees for review of quality of care and guidance towards best-practices.
- May participate in incident review committee and Root Cause Analysis committee.
- Responsible for submitting, reporting, and reviewing incidents as indicated by policy.
Utilization Management
- Participate in utilization review and management.
- Maintain focus on key strategic priorities including patient experience, access to care, increased market share, and improving financial stability.
Regulatory Activities
- Assist in the preparation for surveys.
- Maintain awareness of the standards for certification by the various regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry
- Active, unrestricted NYS License
- Active DEA Waiver
- Active X-Waiver preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Familiarity with high-risk patients and cultural sensitivity in community settings
Wages and Benefits include:
Annual Base Salary: $255,900* (board eligible); $266,200* (board certified) based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.
The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $380,590** (board eligible) and $396,920** (board certified) , which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below:
- Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $104,000.
- 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
- Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
- After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
- Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
- Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and CME days.
