Role Summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Vice President to join the Treasury Control Governance team within the Finance Division. This role is responsible for strengthening the governance, oversight, and execution of the Treasury control framework, supporting regulatory expectations and firmwide risk management objectives.

The successful candidate will partner closely with Treasury Controllers, Capital and Balance Sheet teams, Risk, Technology, and Data Governance to ensure control effectiveness, transparency, and timely remediation of issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support regulatory exams and internal reviews by coordinating responses, managing issues, and tracking remediation
  • Execute and enhance the Treasury regulatory control framework, including control testing, attestations, and documentation
  • Monitor and report Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to senior management

Qualifications

Compensation

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance with C.P.A and/or M.B.A is required. At least ten years of experience in financial management within a manufacturing facility with increasing responsibilities for multi‑faced direction and planning is required. Cost accounting experience is highly recommended. Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems to supply the most accurate financial information is essential.

An essential component of Goldman Sachs' private wealth management offering, The Goldman Sachs Trust Company, N.A. ("GSTC") is a limited-purpose national bank providing world-class trust, estate, and charitable administration services to ultra-high-net-worth clients across the United States.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Estate Settlement & Fiduciary Oversight
    • Oversee all estate settlement activities, including the collection, valuation, transfer, and retitling of assets, satisfaction of liabilities, and coordination of insurance claims
    • Ensure estate administration is carried out in accordance with governing documents, applicable fiduciary laws, and regulatory requirements
    • Serve as the escalation point for complex or highrisk estate matters, including discretionary decisions and conflict resolution among beneficiaries
    • Work closely with internal committee for new business approval to ensure GSTC is accepting appointments to administer estates that are consistent with target client profiles and mitigate risk
  • Tax & Legal Coordination
    • Oversee coordination with internal and external tax and legal providers for the preparation and filing of estate, income, and related tax returns, including postmortem planning opportunities
    • Partner closely with estate administration attorneys and other external advisors to ensure timely probate proceedings and resolution of legal matters
    • Lead and develop estate settlement professionals, establishing consistent standards, processes, and controls across the platform
    • Maintain and oversee estate settlement procedures, guidance materials, and internal resources used by counseling and fiduciary teams.
    • Act as a senior subjectmatter expert and internal resource for complex estate administration questions
  • Client & Advisor Engagement
    • Represent Estate Settlement Services in client meetings, advisor discussions, and internal strategy sessions as a senior fiduciary leader
    • Coordinate closely with PWAs to ensure a seamless client and beneficiary experience
  • Business & Platform Development
    • Contribute to the strategic direction of estate settlement services, including service design, risk management, and process improvement
    • Support new business review and acceptance processes where estate settlement services are implicated

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Law degree, master's in taxation, CPA or advanced fiduciary/tax expertise strongly preferred
  • Significant experience in estate administration (ideally 10-15 years), trust services, or fiduciary operations, within a trust company, complex financial institution or law firm
  • Deep understanding of estate planning concepts, probate processes, fiduciary responsibilities, and postdeath tax considerations
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, strong judgment, and ability to manage complex, sensitive matters involving families and beneficiaries
  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and developing teams, including setting priorities, providing feedback, and fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture
  • Proven ability to oversee day-to-day operations and workflows, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely execution of responsibilities
  • Experience setting standards, implementing processes, and driving continuous improvement within a team or function
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and accountability in both individual and team performance
