Description

Responsibilities



  • Act as a lead or support engineer on a multitude of pursuits and projects, providing front‑line technical issue solutions associated with design, construction, equipment, and/or operations of SCADA system replacement/upgrades and other I&C projects for power projects.

Qualifications



  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering from an ABET accredited four‑year college or university.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in instrumentation and controls engineering and design, with a minimum of three years in the power generation market.

  • Familiarity with control system programming concepts.

  • Experience with SCADA systems and PLC; DCS system experience considered desirable.

Summary

The main purpose of this role is to lead Storage specialized engineering support for Construction and execution of utility-scale storage projects. This includes engagement with suppliers and contractors, understanding offtake requirements, scope of works for energy storage projects, and collaboration with regional construction procurement, project engineering, quality, HSE, grid code compliance, power marketing, business development, permitting organizations, as well as structured finance and technical teams in support of Lightsource bp’s objectives. You will have the opportunity to lead technical storage engineering for Lightsource bp customers across the Americas. You should be up to date with current storage technologies, PV+Storage control systems, and the technical specifications, scope of work of integrators, suppliers and EPC contractors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To develop and manage energy storage + PV solutions, including technical due diligence in coordination with the full team
  • To maintain close and regular contacts with battery suppliers and system integrators to understand the latest technology offerings, pricing, warranties, degradation, and other technical and commercial details
  • To interface with construction and project managers representatives to evaluate customer needs under current and anticipated site conditions
  • Regular site visits and support construction team on construction monitoring of on-going storage projects in construction
  • Overseeing Owners engineer selections, requirements, and their support on construction monitoring and RFI responses from the field as required
  • To provide preliminary storage-integrated PV designs, including technical specifications for EPC RFP documents including but not limited to 10% to 30% design packages
  • To review any EPC-provided BESS designs to ensure the proposed systems are in line with each project’s needs and financial expectations
  • To provide a technical and commercial interface with Independent Engineers, Owner’s engineers including 3rd party reports as they relate to BESS projects
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team including business development and project finance to ensure quality financial modelling inputs and techno-economic analysis regarding project timeline, schedule, and budget
  • Work with environmental, development and permitting teams to ensure we comply with applicable codes and standards, especially fire mitigation requirements

Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven track record and 3+ years experience in a similar role

Job Title: Director, Development – Southeast Markets (Atlanta, Savannah, Raleigh, Charlotte). We are looking for an experienced Development Manager to manage land and building development activities including entitlement, design, permitting, and construction for both speculative and customer‑specific industrial facility projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the capital deployment team to execute pursuit projects and deliver high‑profile projects.
  • Develop budgets, define risks and track hard and soft costs for land, infrastructure, and building construction.
  • Lead and coordinate external jurisdictional entitlements and permits to meet customer requirements and project schedules.
  • Lead a team of consultants and contractors in developing site and floor plans, specifications, construction documents, budgets, and schedules.
  • Collaborate with the Investment Officer on land and building acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Hire and manage design professionals and consultants.
  • Schedule, budget, and plan development projects from conception through construction.
  • Lead the municipal approvals process from acquisition through permitting.
  • Provide conceptual and pre‑construction estimating for all aspects of development.
  • Manage procurement of permits and approvals.
  • Conduct on‑site inspections for progress, safety, and quality.
  • Lead project closeout and effectively communicate status to market officers.
  • Respond to build‑to‑suit or leasing RFPs with site plans, specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Ensure internal and external customer satisfaction and exceed expectations.
  • Monitor local construction market trends, including material and labor pricing.
  • Research design and construction alternatives and value‑engineering opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years’ experience in civil engineering, architecture, or construction management with a focus on industrial development.
  • Experience in local industrial development, land municipal approvals, and construction.
  • Ability to travel 25–50% of the time within the markets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering (Civil or Structural), or equivalent experience.
  • Experience as a project manager with a general contractor, A&E, or owner representation.
  • Professional license (Engineer, Architect, etc.) desirable.
  • Computer proficiency: MS Project, Google Earth, ACAD viewer, and general Microsoft tools.
  • Experience on BIM projects desirable.
  • Self‑motivated with ability to multi‑task and prioritize with minimal direction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude focused on customer satisfaction, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Experience with entitlement processes in any market.

Salary

Hiring salary range: $139,000 – $191,000, plus bonus target and LTI, determined by location, experience, and internal equity.

  • Accepts and carries out responsibility for the design team\'s direction, control and planning; sets realistic goals and makes decisions independently
  • Exhibits a thorough understanding of jurisdictional processing
  • Negotiates effectively
