We Are Sparta

Sparta is the next-generation commodity trading platform. We give trading desks the clarity, control, and collaboration they need to move faster and trade smarter. In February 2025, we secured $42 million in Series B funding. Now we're scaling up across the business, and it's an exciting time to join.

Our people are the driving force behind everything we do. At Sparta, you'll be trusted to take ownership, backed by a team who wants you to succeed. You'll be challenged, supported, and given room to grow. Because building something this ambitious takes everyone at their best.

At Sparta, your work has reach. From improving our platform, to powering smarter decisions for our customers, to changing how commodity trading is done around the world.

And because we're growing fast, you won't just build your career. You'll accelerate it, with a level of ownership and impact you simply don't get at bigger, more bureaucratic companies.

The Role

A Product Manager (PM) at Sparta is the cross-functional owner directly responsible for a product's success. They sit at the intersection of customers, business, and technology, turning ambiguous problems into clear strategies, roadmaps, and shipped products that create measurable business impact.

The PM's core responsibility is to deeply understand our customers, their workflows, and the decisions they need to make, and then define products that help them achieve better outcomes. They link product strategy to company strategy, ensuring the roadmap builds toward coherent, long-term outcomes rather than a series of disconnected features.

You will typically own one or more Sparta products (e.g. Curves, Knowledge, Intelligence, Enterprise, Mobile, API) and work closely with commodity trading experts. This role requires a combination of structured product thinking, data fluency, stakeholder management, and strong execution skills.

You are a team player who loves solving problems, engaging directly with users, and building products that create real business value. You are equally comfortable thinking in terms of user stories and workflows, data and metrics, and long-term product vision.

This role can be based out of London, Madrid or Barcelona, working on a hybrid basis- ideally 2- 3 days a week in the office with the team

What You'll Do

Own discovery through delivery. Identify real user problems by working closely with customers, commodity owners and internal stakeholders. Turn insights and data into clear problem statements, define MVPs, write crisp feature specs, and partner with engineering and design to ship high-quality solutions end-to-end.

Drive execution and prioritisation. Own the backlog for your product area. Frame trade-offs, prioritise for impact, and align teams around clear goals. Remove blockers, coordinate across functions, and ensure launches balance speed, quality and customer value.

Be the voice of the customer. Develop deep empathy for user workflows and decision-making. Combine qualitative insight with product analytics to guide decisions, measure success, and continuously improve outcomes.

Shape product strategy and roadmap. Define and communicate a clear product vision aligned to Sparta's strategy and revenue goals. Maintain a transparent, prioritised roadmap that balances strategic bets, customer needs, and technical constraints.

Influence and align across teams. Build trusted relationships across engineering, sales, marketing, customer success and leadership. Act as a strong product voice aligning stakeholders, communicating context clearly, and driving decisions with conviction and data.

What We're Looking For:

  • Location: UK (Greater London) or Spain (Madrid or Barcelona) based.

  • Experience: Typically 46 years of experience as a Product Manager (or closely related role) in a software product environment, preferably working with cross-functional teams (engineering and GTM) on complex, high volume and multi-source data-centric products. Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels

  • Execution track record: Proven ability to own a product portfolio of multiple products from discovery through launch and iteration.

  • Data & customer orientation: Hands-on experience using product analytics and customer feedback to guide decisions and measure success. Strong customer empathy and confidence using data to inform decisions

  • Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to influence and coordinate across multiple stakeholders and teams. Proven experience shipping high-quality products in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable influencing without authority and managing cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Interest in data-driven products; commodities or financial markets experience is a plus

  • Experience and confidence using AI frameworks to automate work and generate efficiencies

Sparta Commodities is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and promotes diversity within its workforce. We are determined that no-one will ever receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status, race, veteran status or any basis covered by appropriate law.
