Senior Software Engineer - IoT Platform
Echodyne
kirkland, wa
Compensation: 137.196 - 205.382

Radar Reinvented.

Echodyne offers the world's first compact solid-state true beam-steering radar for a wide range of industries and applications. Our high-performance radars work in all weather and are designed for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft & drones, and security of borders, critical infrastructure, and smart cities. The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM).

Who You Are

You are a technical, hands‑on lead engineer who thrives at the intersection of edge computing and cloud-native integration. You lead by example—writing clean, high-performance code while mentoring the engineers on your team. You are comfortable going deep into on-device logic while simultaneously navigating AWS services to ensure a seamless "edge-to-cloud" connection. You are a builder and a driver, ensuring that the components living on the radar are built with clarity, reliability, and real-world mission constraints in mind.

Required Experience

  • Hands-on Edge Development: Strong proficiency in high performance languages like Rust or C++, with a focus on building middleware or services that live directly on hardware/client devices. Python experience a nice to have.
  • AWS API & Service Expertise: Deep experience working with AWS IoT Core, AWS SDKs, and RESTful APIs. You understand how to leverage cloud services (e.g., Kinesis, S3, Lambda) from an edge perspective to manage telemetry and state.
  • Technical Leadership: Experience as a Lead or Senior Engineer (3+ years in leadership) with a track record of driving a small team to meet delivery commitments.
  • Security Fundamentals: Solid understanding of secure coding practices and the implementation of AuthN/AuthZ (e.g., X.509 certificates, IAM roles) and data privacy on edge devices.
  • Full-Stack Visibility: Understanding of the tiered software stack, from on-device telemetry and middleware to the cloud-side ingestion layers.
  • Bias for Action: Proven ability to move fast and maintain sound engineering judgment in 0 → 1 or rapid R&D environments.

What Sets You Apart

  • The Integration Specialist: You don't just write code for the device; you understand the entire data journey, ensuring that edge logic and AWS APIs work in perfect harmony.
  • Architectural Empathy: You understand the unique constraints of the edge (latency, bandwidth) and can translate those into actionable integration requirements.
  • Low-Ego Ownership: You operate with an impact-driven mindset, taking full accountability for the technical success and reliability of the device-side software.

What You Do

  • Develop & Integrate: Act as a technical driver for components living on the edge, specifically focusing on how those components interact with AWS cloud services and APIs.
  • Shepherd Local Innovation: Drive the design and implementation of robust interfaces that ensure reliability in "disconnected" or high-latency environments.
  • Collaborate in Tandem: Work closely with the Principal Cloud Tech Lead to implement the contracts and protocols required for secure, high-throughput device-to-cloud communication.
  • Mentor & Coach: Support the growth of engineers on the edge team, ensuring high standards for code quality, AWS integration best practices, and pragmatic development.
  • Anticipate Challenges: Use your hands‑on engineering background to identify technical risks early and ensure the edge-to-cloud bridge is durable and secure.

Echodyne's technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must evaluate an applicant's eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain required Government authorizations. Therefore, we will ask you as part of the application process to identify whether you are a U.S. Citizen or green card holder, or have asylum/refugee status in the U.S.

WHAT WE OFFER

This is an exempt role.

The expected annual salary range for this role is
$137,196—$205,382 USD

Senior Software Engineer, Behavior Prediction Planning
Kodiak
mountain view, ca
Compensation: 200.000 - 225.000

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. was founded in 2018 and has become a leader in autonomous ground transportation committed to a safer and more efficient future for all. The company has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) powered technology stack purpose-built for commercial trucking and the public sector. The company delivers freight daily for its customers across the southern United States using its autonomous technology. In 2024, Kodiak became the first known company to publicly announce delivering a driverless semi-truck to a customer. Kodiak is also leveraging its commercial self-driving software to develop, test and deploy autonomous capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to improve behavior prediction for autonomous driving. In this role, you will work on how our autonomy system predicts the behavior, intent, and future motion of other road users, and how those predictions are used by the planning system to make safe, comfortable, and effective decisions.

This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in autonomous vehicle prediction, trajectory prediction, behavior modeling, or actor intent understanding. You will work closely with Planning and ML engineers to improve prediction quality, model integration, evaluation, and downstream planning behavior.

This is not only an ML integration role. Through this high-impact role, you will improve prediction using the most effective approach for the problem, whether that means improving heuristic prediction logic, collaborating on learned prediction models, refining prediction‑planning interfaces, or changing how Planning consumes prediction outputs.

In this role, you will:

  • Own prediction improvements within the Planning team. Advance prediction models and collaborate closely with ML teams on learned prediction models, model outputs, uncertainty, and failure modes.
  • Improve prediction‑planning interfaces, including confidence, uncertainty, intent representation, and fallback behavior.
  • Collaborate on projects that improve planning behavior in scenarios where actor intent is uncertain or changing.
  • Define metrics and evaluation frameworks for prediction quality as it relates to planning behavior. Analyze prediction‑related planning failures using logs, simulation, metrics, and scenario‑based evaluation.
  • Lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong experience with behavior prediction, trajectory prediction, actor intent modeling, or related autonomous vehicle prediction problems.
  • Strong software engineering skills with proficiency in C++. Python proficiency is a plus.
  • Experience working with Planning Systems and understanding of how Prediction impacts planning, safety, comfort, and system behavior.
  • Ability to analyze complex autonomy failures using logs, metrics, and simulation.
  • Strong collaboration skills across Perception, Planning, ML, Simulation, and Systems teams.
  • Strong system‑level judgment around prediction uncertainty, safety, and deployment and ability to reason across heuristic, learned, and hybrid prediction approaches.

What we offer:

  • Competitive compensation package including equity and annual bonuses
  • Excellent Medical, Dental, and Vision plans through Kaiser Permanente, Cigna, and MetLife (including a medical plan with infertility benefits)
  • MetLife Legal Services, Identity & Fraud Protection, Hospital Indemnity Insurance, Accident Insurance, & Critical Illness Insurance

  • Fidelity 401(k)
  • Commuter, FSA, Dependent Care FSA, HSA
  • Various incentive programs (referral bonuses, patent bonuses, etc.)

The pay range listed below reflects the base salary in our SF/Silicon Valley location, across several internal levels. Actual starting pay will be based on job‑related factors including: work location, experience, relevant training, education, skill level and performance during interview.
