The Behavioral Health Services Department (BHSD) with the County of Santa Clara is seeking a full‑time BC Psychiatrist to serve as an Associate Medical Director for Managed Care to join our dynamic practice.

About Our Organization

BHSD is part of an integrated public health system that serves the residents of Santa Clara County. Together with Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH), which is the second‑largest County‑owned health and hospital system in California with four public hospitals and a thriving network of primary care, urgent care and dental clinics, as well as Custody health, the County of Santa Clara is committed to improving the health of the 1.9 million people of Santa Clara County.

As one of the largest public behavioral health systems in California, BHSD provides the full‐behavioral health spectrum of services that include inpatient, outpatient and crisis continuum levels of care, in addition to a robust substance use services system of care. BHSD is unique in its organizational structure as it relates to the physical healthcare system, allowing for significant coordination between the two systems. Providers use the behavioral health electronic platform Netsmart myAvatar but also have the opportunity to use the hospital system’s Epic Systems to bring together systemwide patient information. BHSD contracts with a network of over 30+ agencies that deliver a rich range of services, which include Full Service Partnerships (FSP), Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (FACT), Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT), Care Court, outpatient clinics, crisis residential as well as a full continuum of substance use services such as Withdrawal Management, Substance Use Residential, Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient. Additionally, SCVH operates an inpatient adult acute psychiatric hospital along with an Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS), and by late 2026, these services are planned to move into a new, state‑of‑the‑art Behavioral Health Pavilion on Santa Clara Valley Medical Center’s campus. This new facility will provide emergency, urgent and inpatient psychiatric services to adults, adolescents and children. This building will be the first county‑operated, public inpatient psychiatric facility specifically for children and adolescents in California.

About the Position

The Associate Medical Director for Behavioral Health Managed Care at BHSD is primarily an administrative role that will provide clinical leadership on managed care functions for the County of Santa Clara’s mental health and substance use disorder services. This individual will provide clinical leadership, oversight of utilization management, and quality operations for mental health and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services, specifically Drug Medi‑Cal Organized Delivery Systems (DMC‑ODS). They will ensure compliance with state/federal regulations, support work of network providers, and perform peer reviews to optimize care as needed. In collaboration with BHSD’s Medical Director, and Director of Managed Care Operations, the incumbent will ensure BHSD is meeting its contractual and clinical obligations as the Behavioral Health Plan for the County of Santa Clara.

• Deep knowledge of Medi‑Cal regulations, Drug Medi‑Cal Organized Delivery Systems (DMC‑ODS), and clinical coding.
• Strong communication skills to represent the department to stakeholders and community partners.
• Ability to evaluate complex clinical cases and utilize data to drive decisions.
• In‑depth knowledge of current behavioral health best practices, the Recovery Model, strength‑based treatment, and the integration of primary care and behavioral health systems.
• Expertise in diagnosis, treatment, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.

The applicant must have an active, unrestricted license to practice medicine (MD or DO) in California, typically specializing in Psychiatry. The Role

Director of Platform Management for Simulation, Evaluation & Validation

You will lead the overall product vision and direction for the platforms that Wayve uses to develop, evaluate, and validate the AI Driver. This includes open and closed loop simulation platforms, the evaluation test platform, synthetic data production, critical event pipelines, validation, and the workflows that connect them.

You will directly lead and indirectly influence sub‑team platform leads across Simulation, Evaluation, Data, and Validation to convert a complex set of cross‑cutting initiatives into a single, opinionated product strategy. The role is part developer‑tools PM (your users are engineers and scientists who will tell you immediately when something is slow, wrong, or in the way), part platform PM (your roadmap has to compose across simulators, datasets, evaluation, and triage), and part safety‑systems PM (the outputs gate releases that put cars on real roads).

You will help shape and set vision for how our tools and services should function and work in an AV2.0 context – a Wayve‑pioneered approach to both the driving stack and offline development.

Key Responsibilities

• Set product vision and strategy for the platforms. Define a multi‑year, multi‑quarter product strategy that takes Wayve from a collection of capable tools to a unified, opinionated platform for evaluating and validating the AI Driver. Anchor the strategy in measurable customer outcomes — developer velocity, signal quality, cost per evaluation, time‑to‑insight, validation credibility.
• Own the product roadmap end‑to‑end. Translate company‑level priorities into a coherent roadmap across simulation, evaluation, and validation initiatives. Drive trade‑offs between different internal and external customer groups. Ensure resourcing decisions are clearly communicated to other director‑level stakeholders.
• Lead and grow the team. Manage and mentor the product managers embedded across. Hire to fill gaps, level up the craft, and build a highly capable lean team.
• Build world‑class developer experiences. Run regular user research with Autonomy, Science, Validation, Release, and Product teams. Maintain a clear picture of what each customer segment needs from the platform, where the friction is, and which gaps are quietly bleeding velocity.
• Define and defend quality bars for an internal platform. Set platform‑wide standards for reliability, latency, cost per unit (per simulation, per evaluation, per enriched hour), self‑service, observability, and API stability. Treat platform regressions the way a consumer team treats a churn spike.
• Establish regular operational cadences. Lead monthly business reviews and close the loop on requests and progress reporting with the leadership team. Lead quarterly planning, KPI reviews, and the trade‑off conversations.
• Represent the platform externally. Help Wayve's leadership tell a credible story about how we develop and validate the AI Driver — to OEM partners, regulators, and at relevant industry forums.

About You

Essential

• 0+ years of product management experience, with at least 3–5 years leading PM teams (PMs and/or senior PMs reporting to you).
• Track record building internal platforms, developer tools, or ML/AI evaluation infrastructure — products whose users are engineers and scientists, where the bar is set by power users with strong opinions and the ability to route around you if the tool isn't good enough.
• Data driven. You always seek to answer questions with data and lean into defining the right customer‑facing KPIs indicative of success.
• Systems thinking across hardware, AI, and product. You understand how decisions in one part of the stack (data, simulator fidelity, metric design) propagate into outcomes (release confidence, on‑road performance, regulator trust) elsewhere.
• Insight‑driven leader. A record of producing the analysis or framing that changed a "go/no-go" decision on a complex AI or robotics program.
• Product craft. You care about workflows, latency, errors‑per‑hour, and how a tool feels. You apply product management best practices to measuring user experience.
• AI Fluency. You not only regularly use but are a standard bearer in the application of AI tools to the job.

Desirable

• Prior experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or another safety‑critical AI/ML program (L2+, L4, surgical robotics, aerospace autonomy, etc.).
• Familiarity with simulation, synthetic data, evaluation harnesses, or ML observability tools at production scale.
• Working knowledge of SOTIF (ISO 21448), ISO 26262, or other safety standards relevant to validating learned systems.
• Experience with internal developer platforms (CI/CD, ML platforms, data platforms) at scale.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in either Data Architecture, Data Governance, Data Engineering, Data Modelling, or ETL

• Prior experience of successfully delivering data related change in a complex environment whilst managing competing priorities
• Track record of working in the data space with ISO standards and development of data solutions to solve problems.
• Have an understanding of a variety of data management and data analysis software packages, databases and data visualization tools.

About You

You are passionate about interfaces for human-machine teaming, have an understanding of robotics and autonomous systems and want to make airplanes that fly themselves. You are familiar with aviation operations and what a modern flight deck looks like, but you enjoy pushing the boundaries and want to build novel autonomy-centric interfaces. You have experience developing and optimizing software, and an ability to move between storyboarding, prototyping, and production software development to bring new concepts to life. You’d like to make an impact on how humans interact with autonomous airborne systems ranging from Group 1 UAS through Part 25 transport category planes.

Responsibilities

• Develop HMIs using tools like GL Studio for creating high-performance, real-time graphical interfaces
• Contribute to full stack software development that connects HMIs with Merlin’s autonomy software stack
• Design HMIs using tools like Figma for rapid prototyping and user feedback
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, pilots, and software developers, to design and implement user interfaces for autonomous flight systems
• Ensure interface designs meet aviation standards (e.g., ARINC 661, DO-178C, FAA/EASA guidelines) and are optimized for usability and performance
• Explore emerging technologies (e.g., augmented reality, generative AI, LLMs, voice control) for human machine teaming applications
• Collaborate across Merlin to develop novel systems to solve the toughest problems in aviation and autonomy

Requirements

• Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related subject
• 1-2+ years of experience in HMI/UX/UI development, preferably in aviation, robotics, or other safety-critical industries such as medical devices
• Proficiency in HMI development tools like GL Studio, Qt, or other interactive graphical interface platforms
• Proficiency in software development using Python and C++
• Experience with prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and usability testing processes
• Ability to create HMIs that enhance situational awareness, reduce workload, and mitigate human error
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey design concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Haves

• Strong understanding of aviation industry standards, such as ARINC 661, DO-178C, and FAA/EASA guidelines
• Experience with avionics systems integration is a plus
• Familiarity with DoD and commercial open architectures such as A-GRA, OMS, FACE, and IMA
• Experience with flight testing (uncrewed or crewed aircraft)
• Understanding of aerodynamics
• Pilot license and flight experience is a plus
